GREENPOWER CHALLENGE 2008

Norco are proud to support a group of local pupils from local secondary school Bankhead Academy, taking part participating in the IMechE Greenpower Challenge. The team are racing in the Formula 24 event and their challenge is to build an endurance ready racing car, powered by a 24v motor and 4 x 12v lead/acid batteries (2 on the car and 2 spares) supplied to the team by Scottish heat Sponsors, Shell UK.

The school approached Norco for assistance with designing and building the electric drive system. Norco were so excited by the project that we have provided a dedicated team to support the team in as many ways as possible. As well as helping to design the most efficient system to power the car with the batteries provided, we have also provided support in the form of marketing, battery charging and maintenance and transportation of the car.

The Bankhead Blazers finished 3rd in the regional heat on the 22nd of June, meaning the team have qualified for the national final of the competition to be held at the Goodwood Circuit on the 19^th of October!
